The Medieval Ruin Garden of The Coronation Basilica- National Memorial Place

The historical figures, kings and queens accompany the visitors in the National Memorial Place. Standing on the ruins of the former coronation basilica it reminds us of being the scene of 38 coronation ceremonies.

Moreover, in the medieval Hungary only that person could be a legal ruler who had been crowned with the Holy Crown of St. Stephen in Székesfehérvár. The Holy Crown had been guarded here as well, its certified replica can be seen at the Town Hall. 15 kings and 9 queens had been buried here, among them were St. Stephen and St. Emeric. In the St. Stephen mausoleum and the permanent exhibition we can take a glance into the country’s history book.
