Let’s close our eyes and imagine that once upon a time a fortress surrounded with walls and a belonging district (now it is the downtown) had been standing here, moreover one of the entrance of the latter was here.
Its name is preserved by the Palotai Gate, its spot by the sign. Imagine a ditch next to the Alba Plaza, in Mátyás Király Avenue; this protected the residents of the fortress who could enter on the drawbridge. If we look down on the sidewalk, we can notice that somewhere the colour of the pavement is different. It signs the line of the former Palotai Gate, the drawbridge and the tower.
