The most muggy place of the Turkish occupation was maybe the Turkish Bath in Fehérvár. It ruins have still suggested that vibrant life which was led by the Turkish living in a town with Christian roots.

It can surprise the citizens of Fehérvár as well to look up the wall in Jókai street and see a cannon in the house.

Let’s close our eyes and imagine that once upon a time a fortress surrounded with walls and a belonging district (now it is the downtown) had been standing here, moreover one of the entrance of the latter was here.

The present downtown had been a vivid coronation place surrounded with walls, that changed a lot during the Turkish conquest.

The predecessor of the cathedral, Saint Peter Parish Church had been Suleiman’s mosque in the Turkish era.

The oldest medieval historical building which remained intact in our town and it guards special Turkish memories. The single nave chapel had been built in the 1470s before the foreign invaders’ arrival. Its entrance is ornamented by a beautiful rose window.

Probably, the Hungarian were impressed by the world of the Turkish baths, which were exciting both architecturally and socially. In 1905, 31st December, the Art Nouveau Árpád Bath’s most spectacular part- the mosaic covered pool and the whirpool bath- were opened.

The memory of the legendary constable of Fehérvár, Ferenc Wathay has been preserved by Elek Lux’s artwork under the shady trees, at the ruins of the Monostor bastion.

The Rose house - can be found in Rózsa Street (in English Rose street) - is the part of the myths and a real green spot in our town. The Rose street had existed earlier than the Rose House.

The imprints of Székesfehérvár’s history and culture can be seen in the artist, Mária Ecsedi’s art work and shop signs in the town.

The former fortress of Fehérvár can be seen on the museum’s wall. On this place the legend of a magnificant royal palace has been preserved by the town.
